Plains zebra

The plains zebra (Equus quagga) is the most abundant grazing animal in Africa and the most common equid on Earth. It is a highly adaptable species, able to survive in areas where vegetation is rare and has little nutritional value. However, the plains zebra does need to hydrate itself on a daily basis, so it chooses its habitat close to a source of water. The zebra is capable of traveling long distances and is often the first species to colonize untouched areas of grassland.
