The Pech whose name means the people have settled in Honduras 3000 years ago. In pre-Columbian times, they lived in the Bahia islands and on the banks of the Patuca. To escape the Spanish invader, they took refuge in the mountainous areas.
The Pech have a very deep knowledge of wild plants. They collect the styrax resin, by incising its trunk, to make an essential oil to heal wounds.
