The umuhei is an aromatic flower and fruit bouquet, that women attach to their hair on special occasions. In Fatu Hiva, Paloma Ihopu makes umuhei with over 20 different scents. To obtain the most powerful aromas, she harvests each week pineapples, and blossoms of avocados, pitates (jasmine), and mei'a (banana).
