The Corsican knife, a living heritage symbol
5

In Corsica, handcraft cutlers carry out all the stages of manufacturing the Corsican knife, Xavier Biancarelli is among them. Wood, iron ore, horn… The island offers all the natural materials needed that the craftsman selects and transforms to give life to knives. In the forge' heat, when the sound of the hammer indicates that the blade is thin enough, the horn is softened in boiling oil and flattened in a vice to be used as a handle. Then, some finishing touches and pieces are finally assembled.
