Commonly called calva, this apple brandy is exclusively produced in Normandy. To become calvados, the fruit must first ferment to give a sweet, alcoholic apple wine. After distillation, the degree of alcohol will increase, and the brandy will be put in oak barrels for several months or even years. (Alcohol should be consumed with moderation.)
