Rats' predation on green turtle nesting sites

Rats’ predation continues to wreak havoc on green turtles hatchlings in French Polynesia! Using infrared cameras installed above the nests on Tetiaroa atoll, Te mana o te moana teams were able to film the behavior of the rats. The video demonstrates once again that rats are able to sense the presence of the nest even before the eggs hatch and that these ferocious predators grab the weakest emerging as soon as they leave the nest.
