Although in 1998 Hurricane Mitch ravaged 80% of its crops, Honduras is now the third largest banana producer in Central America. Nicknamed the biggest grass in the world (because banana tree is not a tree!) has the particularity of constantly renewing itself. After each flowering period, the banana tree is reborn through a new plant from its roots.
