The fish traps from Huahine

Huahine, one of the Leeward Islands, is particularly rich in archaeological sites. At the edge of the Maeva lagoon, there are strange mazes of coral stones that still serve as fish traps.
Pushed by the current, the fish rush into these labyrinths and find themselves trapped at the very end, in circular basins. These traps, which trap live fish, are considered as the first form of aquaculture.
