African buffalo
Along with lions, leopards, elephants, and rhinos, African buffalos (syncerus caffer) form the famous “Big Five”, the five most dangerous mammals in Africa. Eager to defend itself against predators, it is responsible for the death of more than 200 humans each year. In open spaces such as savannas, the African buffalo can create impressive hordes of more than 1,000 animals.
