In Central West Papua, the Baliem Valley mostly supports Papuans from the Dani tribe.
Hunters and farmers people, Dani were once formidable warriors. Most of the time, abduction of women or theft of pigs by clans nearby triggered the fights. Tribal wars has been forbidden by the Indonesian government but the tribe regularly organizes a mock battle, as a ceremony. To keep the tradition alive.
