The coral barrier in Honduras is the second largest in the world. It spreads from the Yucatan over more than a 1,000 kilometers. This barrier is a real sunken monument and vital for Honduras. It protects the coastlines from tidal waves and has long blocked the way to the galleons of invaders. This barrier shelters an extraordinary biodiversity: over 500 fish species and more than 70 different types of coral. It represents one of the most important ecosystems on the planet.
