In Honduras, on the Copan site sculptures of the jaguar god can be found. It is the privileged emblem of Mayan royalty and nobility. This solitary animal is the largest wild cat of the American continent and the largest predator in this region of the world, but it is wary of humans. It is therefore very difficult to observe in its natural environment. Classified as near threatened, their numbers are now in decline.
