Esther Mahlangu is a Ndebele artist born in 1935 in South Africa. As a child, she learns to paint, watching her mother and grandmother. In Ndebele tradition, women decorate the houses’ walls with colorful geometric shapes during winter. Esther Mahlangu is now a world known artist. When she’s not traveling, she divides her time between the practice of her art and its teaching in the “School for Ndebele Art” she created and funded herself.
