The mouflon has introduced in Corsica 6,000 years ago. Because these sheep ancestors were excessively hunted at the end of the 19th century, they were no more than a hundred individuals in the 20th century. Since 1953, it is prohibited to hunt them. The Corsican Mouflon (Ovis gmelini musimon) is nowadays protected by the Regional Nature Park of Corsica and lives in the wild in the steep mountain masses of Bavella and Cinto. With extraordinary agility, they frolic on the rocks that protect him from predators. Males have curved horns that can reach 85 cm (33 in) while horned females have short horns.
