Young males

The female cheetah abandons the now independent young cheetahs around the age of twelve to eighteen months to devote herself to a new litter. They will reach their sexual maturity around the age of two. Young males often stay together and form coalitions of two or three brothers, but there are also mixed groups of brothers and sisters. In a group consisting only of males, there is no competition to impregnate the females. Since all the members of the clan are brothers, some of their common genes will be passed down anyway.
