Although rich in high plateaus and windy summits, Auvergne is not an easy region for the installation of windmills and therefore remains rather modestly equipped compared to others. Regulatory and environmental constraints, but also aesthetic concerns, slow down or prevent the development of wind power in Auvergne. Despite a political will promoting a Regional Climate Air Energy Plan (SRCAE) with an 800 MW wind power component by the end of 2020.
