Whiteout during an expedition from Ulukhaktok to Wynniatt Bay. In the Polar regions, sometimes the landscape is engulfed in a uniformly white glow and contrasts vanish. These conditions of « whiteout » are due to a low sky, a snow-covered ground, haze or blizzard, causing low visibility. The sky merges with the ground, the horizon disappears and it is very easy to get lost.
