With the horrendous rate at which white rhinos get slaughtered by poachers for their rhino horn to provide the Chinese market with the demand of rhino horn for traditional medicines it is a true war zone in the African bush. Armed anti poaching units try to protect these friendly prehistoric giants in South Africa while poachers sneak into the parks with semi-automatic weapons and machetes. With no tourists around during the confinement the poaching has increased again. Many South African Parks have no rhinos left and they are again at the verge of extinction. Do you see a rhino, do NOT share the location as poachers look for this on social media to kill the animal. So it will remain a secret where I photographed this peaceful moment of a mother rhino with her calf snoozing by a waterhole... #fightpoaching!
