The shamrock is the national symbol of Ireland. According to the legend, Saint Patrick would have used the three leaves of the clover to explain the Holy Trinity to the inhabitants of the country. Missionary, Saint Patrick was the founder of Christianity in this country during the 5th century. The shamrock is a perennial and edible plant. Rarer, the four-leaf shamrock is a symbol of luck.
