Lions live in pride that forms a cooperative social system. They are made of one or several males, and of several lionesses that are often sisters. The various roles are well defined. Males protect the territory and females hunt and raise the cubs.
When they go hunting, some of the lionesses may go alone ahead as pathfinders to find preys. This is undoubtedly what this young lioness was doing.
