Wé is located in the Bay of Châteaubriand on a land which was granted to the Europeans for the establishment of the Loyalty Islands administrative center following the founding of the first Protestant mission. It is the only non-customary space on the island at the intersection of the three districts of Gaitcha, Wetr and Lossi. The village now has a thousand inhabitants divided into four tribes : Hnasse, Qanono, Hnapalu and Luecila.
