Wave swimming of the ray
5
0
The wave movement of the lateral fins of the ray is symmetrical and vertical, each point of the fin's edge rising and falling in turn. The wave is born in the front and propagates backwards while increasing its amplitude. Arrived halfway, it fades on each side of the base of the tail. Before the first wave disappears, a new wave forms in a process similar to that of birds' flight.
