Water-dependent herbivore
Blue wildebeests are herbivorous and very water-dependent. They drink daily and as often as they can, sometimes on muddied waters if they have to, unlike zebras. When sedentary, males strategically establish their territory next to water, the more likely to attract females. When they migrate, they try to be within a 20 km of permanent water.
