The adult warthog weighs between 110 and 330lbs (50 to 150 kg) with an average weight of 165lbs (75 kg) for females and 264lbs (120 kg) for males. Males are also larger than females with a height at the withers of 33.4 inches (85 cm), instead of 27.5 inches (70 cm). The species has 4 tusks, two of which can measure up to 23.6 inches (60 cm) for males and 9.8 inches (25 cm) for females. The base of the muzzle is very broadened by the roots of the canines. The warthog has three facial warts: infraocular, pre-orbital and mandibular, less developed in females. The warthog has an elongated head with a long mane that runs down its spine to the middle of the back.
