Most expensive car in the world

With the Bugatti Royale, Ettore Bugatti pursued his dreams of luxury by applying his saying: Nothing is too good, nothing is too expensive. He designed it personally in his factory of Molsheim. Sold in France for 660,000 francs, three times the price of a Rolls-Royce, the Bugatti Royale Type 41 disproportionately exceeded its competitors. But with the aftermath of the 1929 Great Depression, its outrageous price made it a business failure. Bugatti only sold three out of the six produced models. The unsold cars remained at the factory, including the Boss' Coupé that Ettore Bugatti used as a personal car all his life. It constitutes a highlight of the Cité de l'Automobile's museum in Mulhouse.
