Jacques Gruber's stained glass

Master glassmaker Jacques Gruber taught at the Beaux-Arts before creating vase decorations for Daum, furniture for Majorelle, and book covers for René Wiener. In 1901, he was one of the founders, with Louis Majorelle, of the Nancy School, which was the spearhead of Art Nouveau's development. Today, he is considered its most prolific master glassmaker. Several of his stained-glass windows decorate the Villa Majorelle with their Pope's money flowers. The curved lines of the omnipresent floral motifs Gruber brought to the house are characteristic of Art Nouveau.
