Vineyards adapted to new certifications

In 1978, the Delimited Wine of Superior Quality (VDQS) certification was replaced by the Appellation of Controlled Origin (AOC). Such change imposed Pierrefeu-du-Var's winegrowers, producers of the Côtes-de-Provence AOC, compulsory measures concerning the grape varieties. Today, the local vineyard is therefore divided between 30% of secondary grapes (Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Ugni Blanc) and 70% of main grapes (Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Tibouren).
