The higher you climb inside the towers of the Mont St Michel's abbey, the more you discover the immensity of the bay. The low tide further reinforces this impression and the Abbey then comes like a lighthouse resistant to all storms. Seen from the coast, the Bay appears to be a vast, flat expanse. Illusion! Three coastal rivers: the See, the Selune and the Couesnon wander there, digging new channels every day which isolate the sandbanks. In the distance, the polders alternate their high undulating grass and their shining pools of water.
