La vesce commune ou vesce cultivée, est une plante herbacée de la famille des Fabacées, originaire d'Eurasie, souvent cultivée comme plante fourragère. C'est une grimpante qui peut atteindre 70 centimètres de haut. Sa petite fleur est de couleur pourpre ou violacée. C’est une espèce messicole, qu'on rencontre dans les champs, parmi les buissons et au bord des chemins. Au néolithique, la vesce a été utilisée dans l'alimentation humaine. Les jeunes pousses peuvent être mangées en légumes.
