A Champagne wine village between vineyards and forests, Verzenay is nestled between two mountains, Mont-Bœuf, home to a restored but disused windmill, and Mount Rizan, topped by the only lighthouse in the world built over 124 miles (200 km) from the sea! The commune is renowned for its Pinot Noir grapes, one of the three major grape varieties that make up the Champagne AOC, and it has around 420 hectares of vineyards classified as Grand Cru. All the great champagne houses are present in Verzenay where they have built large complexes with remarkable architecture.
