Wood veining
0
0
The wood veining - very noticeable on the leftmost piece made by Robert Marichy - differs in each piece of wood. It varies depending on the type of wood, the precise location where the piece was taken from the log and the direction of the cut. It designates the patterns formed on the surface by the grain of the wood. It may be more or less regular concentric streaks or rings which appear in any transverse or longitudinal section. It is called veining because it looks like veins and results of the sap passing through the wood with the seasons.
