East coast cliff vegetation
The steep and windy cliffs of the eastern part of Maré Island have a plant cover of Bikkia comptonii, a cliff bikkia locally called 'hnure'. In the region of La Roche, in the northeast of the island, this white flowered plant of the Rubiaceae family descends a few meters from the sea and goes up to 295ft (90m) above sea level.
