Vanilla tahitensis is a liana orchid which lives on trees as a fake parasite (without drawing sap) or on stakes. Its stem and leaves are green and contain an irritating juice. Outside Central America, the pollenization of its flowers is made by man. Its long, green fruit - the pod - is picked at maturity and air dried to exhale its flavour.
