On the second floor of the Fontaines Parfumées bastide in Grasse is the bright and refined laboratory of the Louis Vuitton perfume house. In this room dotted with shelves covered with more than 5,000 bottles of essential oils, essences, and absolutes, Charles Cavallier Belletrud's assistants test and bring to life the formulas imagined by the master perfumer. The other raw materials that enter the composition of perfume are also carefully preserved in wine cellars used as refrigerators in the laboratory.
