The generic term 'lavender' gives way to 'fine lavender', 'spike lavender' or 'lavandin' when the specific properties of the different species are mentioned. Fine lavender is sedative, disinfectant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and diuretic. Spike lavender is said to be effective against burns, viper bites, insect, jellyfish and scorpion stings and has healing and detoxifying powers. As for lavandin, it relieves respiratory problems and relaxes muscles.
