A member of the Noiriens family, Chardonnay is a cross between Pinot noir and Gouais blanc, an ancient grape variety. Present in Burgundy for many centuries, it gradually spread to other regions, in France and abroad. Chardonnay adapts easily to its environment but is sensitive to spring frosts. The clusters are elongated and the grains develop a beautiful golden colour when ripe. Chardonnay wines have aromas of white flowers, nuts and citrus fruits.
