In Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, the number of squares and their names testify to the importance and frequency of the past fairs : there is the market square, the pig square, the oxen square, the horse square, the sheep square... As for the multiple stone stalled shops, they remind us that this today's essentially touristy village was once an important commercial crossroads.
