The commune of Chateauneuf-en-Auxois covers an area of 1,006 hectares with a total drop of 643 feet (196 meters) between its highest point 'Le Bois Poulet' in Chaumont to the east (1,774 feet / 541 meters) and its lowest point 'Le Pont de Bois' (1,131 feet / 345 meters). The village itself is built at an altitude of 1,558 feet (475 meters). It offers a magnificent view of the landscapes interspersed with grasslands separated by hedges typical of the Auxois region which extend from the Vandenesse valley to the Morvan massif via the Burgundy canal.
