Monthelie is a rural municipality of 164 inhabitants, located on the Grands Crus route of the Burgundy vineyards, in the Côte-d'Or department. Its area of 1.9 square miles (3.14 km2) is largely dedicated to viticulture and the production of 'monthelie', a wine with a controlled designation of origin, classified among the communal appellations of the Côte de Beaune vineyard.
