Grape varieties in Burgundy are not many. For the white wines, Chardonnay represents 50% of the cultivated vineyards. For red and rosé wines, Pinot noir is present on 40% of the vineyards. The rest of the Burgundian production consists of 6% of Gamay (red wine) and Aligoté (white wine). Finally, a few indigenous grape varieties (Sauvignon, César, Beurot and Sacy) remain cultivated, though quite anecdotally.
