After the Pass of Plum, in the town of Mont-Dore, the landscape turns into red laterite earth and the humid forests give way to the mining scrub. Two watersheds, that of the White river to the west and that of the Blue river to the east, supply the water reservoir of the artificial lake of Yaté. The White river is located to the south-east of the park and the Month of May river. It presents a succession of small basins bordered by rocks.
