Diversity of humid forests
3
0
The humid forest can only develop in a hot and humid climate. Its trees are not deciduous. That of New Caledonia is almost in its primary state and covers approximately 20% of the territory, or 1 505 sq miles (3,900 km²) in total. 80% of its plant species are endemic such as Kaori or the highest tree fern Cyathea. Only 25% of its original surface remains because fires, mining, animal and plant traffic have passed through there.
