Male blue peacock from the Noumea Zoological Park
4
0
Many Blue Peacocks live freely on an area of 34 ha in the Michel-Corbasson Zoological and Forest Park of Noumea in New Caledonia. The plumage of the male is dazzling and it has a tail of 100 to 150 feathers which grow until its 6th year and can reach 4.9ft (1.5m). Made up of metallic green barbs with blue and bronze reflections, they form, near their ends, eye-like spots called 'ocelli'.
