A protected memory of the past

When the Serre-Ponçon dam was created, Électricité de France (EDF) and the board of Architecture in charge of the work ensured the preservation of the modest Saint-Michel chapel. The monument constitutes a vestige of the landscape of yesteryear emerging on its mound from the expanse of the lake. This small memory of the past is protected from the curiosity of visitors by an access ban. Rehabilitation works are carried out regularly to restore the chapel and preserve the tapered line of the islet.
