The collegiate church of Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Nicolas was built from 1703 to 1718 inside the Cité Vauban to give the population back an intramural parish after the destruction of the medieval church. The plans for the church initially designed by engineer Isaac Robelin were revised by Vauban. Consecrated by the Archbishop of Embrun in 1726, the monument was elevated to the rank of collegiate twenty years later.
