Bisons beneficial for the biodiversity

The presence of some fifty European bisons on the territory of the Monts d'Azur Reserve has improved its plant biodiversity and transformed its forest areas. Bisons take an active part in seed dispersal by transporting them in their hair and expelling them in their dung. By breaking the low branches and shrubs and tearing the bark of trees, they also create light holes favorable to the thriving of multiple sun-loving varieties.
