Urbanization and pollution

Founded in the Spanish colonial era, most of the cities of Honduras have an ancient infrastructure ill-suited to the significant demographic growth of the country which had 9.588 million inhabitants in 2018 including 56.4% of urban population. Faced with the growing number of their inhabitants, the cities often lack sufficient road infrastructures as well as adequate water supplies and wastewater disposal systems, which leads to multiple pollutions.
