Although Corsica remains a protected sanctuary whose littoral is still not much urbanized compared to the Mediterranean maritime fringes in general, it did not remain on the sidelines of the vast movement of littoralisation which recomposed the entire Mediterranean rim during the last decades. The urbanization of coastal farmland, less protected and more accessible than natural areas, bears witness to this development.
