Saint-Denis Church in Pierreffite-en-Auge rises on the left bank of the Touques river. It is renowned for the paintings that adorn its wooden-slats ceiling. The church also houses naive and colorful designs from the 17th century as well as motifs from the Old Testament. A beam of glory adorned with a crucified Christ supports the vaulted roof. The historian Arcisse de Caumont claims that Saint-Denis Church would be contemporary with the reign of Louis XIV, even though its choir dates from the 13th century.
