Following a revolt of winegrowers in 1911, the COGEVI (General Winegrowers Cooperative) was founded in 1921. Long remained discreet, even secret, the oldest cooperative in the region has recently opened its doors to the public at the Cité du Champagne, in Aÿ. The heritage collection of COGEVI consists of more than 1,500 objects. It comprises winegrowing tools and posters, postcards, and pictures retracing daily life around Champagne's vineyards. The museum also allows understanding the evolution of the work of the vine and the development of champagne wine.
